Daughter of Tomorrow

Daughter of Tomorrow

An Afghan woman's letter to future generations, expressing hope that current struggles will lead to a tomorrow where Afghan women can live freely, lead boldly, and pursue education without fear.

Dear Daughter of Tomorrow,

I don’t know who you will be… My daughter, my niece, or simply a young girl walking down the beautiful streets of Kabul. But I do know that everything we suffer today is endured for you.

Right now, our voices are stolen. Our schools are closed. We are told to be silent, invisible, forgotten. I study outside my homeland, in a small room that cannot contain the weight of my dreams. But I refuse to surrender. Because you are my hope.

I see you standing tall, opening books no one can take from your hands. I see you leading without hesitation, making decisions for our nation without fear of being silenced. I see an Afghanistan where women are not exceptions, but leaders. Where your voice is not “dangerous” but beautiful and powerful. An Afghanistan where Farkhunda is not killed and burned by tens of so-called ba ghairat men. Where Rahila is not murdered inside her classroom.

I picture you… unafraid, unbroken, and simply happy to be a girl.

And my dear, if I could pass you anything, it would be courage. The same courage Afghan women carry now; in exile, in whispers, in hidden resistance. We hold it so that you can one day shout it from the heart of Kabul without fear.

Until that day, I will write.

Because the future belongs to you, and it must shine brighter than the darkness of my present.

With hope,

Nelofar Mohammadi - An Afghan Woman of Today
